Officers, Board Members, and 2009 Meeting Dates Click here to review a list of Officers, Board Members, and 2009 Meeting Dates Animal Legislation Information provided by Marlin Beck House Bill 1468 passed 80 to 14 about the puppy mills. 3 dog owners called in complaining because they owned 5 dogs and were worried that they would be considered a commercial breeder. A commercial breeder is someone that has 5 intact females and they are bred two times in one year. The Senate Bill 23 regarding the racketeering and dog fighting died because the penalties were too strict on the people watching the dog fighting. They are located under the "Police Reports" link at the top of the page. Christmas Party The Christmas party was a great success with nearly 40 neighbors in attendance! Many donations of money and supplies were also collected for Feline Fix and United Caring Shelters. Thanks to everyone who helped make this a great success. Update on Lakewood Hills Attack Officer Fillmore updated the neighborhood regarding the attack on the meter reader that happened on October 5th near Lake Drive and Oak Hill Road. Officers now believe that the other attack on the West Side and the Lake Drive attack are not related. Officer Fillmore will be looking into a local vacant property to insure that no homeless persons are living there. Christmas Party and December Meeting There will be no meeting in December because of holiday schedules. Our neighborhood Christmas party will be held Oakland Library on December 8th at 6:00 PM. Everyone should bring a dessert or an appetizer and a favorite recipe for inclusion in our neighborhood cook book! We will be collecting donations for United Caring Shelter and Feline Fix.
